Florrie cried out in fright, not even daring to look at her husband on the bed.
But Lucinda grabbed her by the hair and kept her from leaving.
The sharp pain in her scalp sent Florrie over the edge. She began to kick and scream.
“I did nothing wrong! I was just trying to look out for myself. It’s all your fault! You made me do this! Atticus deserves what happened to him! If he didn’t insist on naming you his sole heir and backed me in a corner, I would have never listened to Valerie!”
